Three Journalists Injured by Accidental Firearms Discharge

The "Defend China" website (http://www.315wqchina.com/) reports that three journalists were injured when there was an accidental firearms discharge during a press conference at the Public Security Bureau in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.

Thursday July 17 10 a.m. three journalists were photographing seized firearms in an office of the Nanchong Public Security Bureau when a gun discharged and the three journalists were injured. The three are: Su Ding of the Western China Metropolitan News (Telephone: 15881780000), Sichuan New Web reporter Wang Xiaofeng (Telephone: 0817-2112345), and Nanchong Daily reporter Zhang Yicheng.

Su Ding's injury is most severe, with more than 20 wounds on his body (his head was not hit). The firearm may have been a shotgun. The other two journalists received injuries on their hands.

The injured were delivered to Nanchong North Hospital for treatment. The two less severely injured reporters are being operated on. Su Ding has still not entered surgery and may be transferred to a hospital in the capital city of Chengdu.
