A Woman Petitioning in Beijing is Hounded to Death by Anti-Petition Guards

On the morning of Tuesday July 15 at approximately 10 a.m., a Heilongjiang Province woman in her 40s petitioning a grievance at the National Peoples Congress reception center in Beijing, because of the lack of satisfactory resolution of her case, felt compelled to jump to her death from Taoranting Bridge (near the Beijing Southern Railway Station). She did not jump into the water but onto the roadway below the bridge. She died at the scene.
