Chinese workers in Pakistan went on strike as they did not get paid in three months. Just a few hours ago, the Chinese contractor sent Pakistan soldiers to the site. The workers told Boxun reporter Lao Nong that they are facing soldiers with machine gun.

Boxun reporter called a few times the construction site, workers told him that they just wanted to get their salary. They started to strike from January 1st 2007.

At about 11:10pm (New York time), the phone was picked up by the Chinese contractor; he told Boxun that "the problem has been solved", but the workers shouted "No, not solved!!!!"

The construction is for a JF17 air fighter, it should be a sensitive project. After Boxun's report, source said that Chinese consulate and Pakistan army officials have intervened to push for the payment of salary. But workers are threatened not to reveal the truth outside.

(It is a common practice that Chinese workers are isolated when they work overseas, their passports are "kept" by contractor, their salary is mysterious. Unfortunately, millions of overseas Chinese workers have been ignored by foreign government and human rights groups including labor right activists.)
