(Photos) Six Dead in Tianjin Expressway Bridge Collapse

Boxun reports that on Wednesday July 15 a ramp bridge linking the new Tianjin-Shanxi Expressway collapsed. Five trucks plunged from the road about 800 meters from a toll station near Tianjin port, killing six and injuring four.

What is of interest is that this expressway began being built in the late 1990s, but was not completed until November of 2002. How much graft and how many substandard materials went into its construction?

The accident has closed down the Tianjin section of the pivotal expressway linking to the northern Shanxi Province and caused congestions in the downtown areas.
