National Day Military Parade To Unveil New Weapons

The Beijing Morning Post Wednesday January 21 quoted PLA General Staff Headquarters war department deputy director Cai Huailie as saying that the October 1, 2009 National Day—the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China—will show off new weaponry and include the Army, Navy, Airforce, Second Artillery, Peoples Armed Police, People's Militias and reserve forces.

Military Affairs Institute research fellow General Luo Yuan says that this will demonstrate the People's Liberation Army's successful transformation from a mechanized to an advance information technology-based military force.
